Pascal Wehrlein merited his world title after making no season-defining errors. He solely non-scored twice resulting from collisions that weren’t his fault.

Vastly improved qualifying was key; three poles meant 9 bonus factors, three greater than his title-winning margin. His marketing campaign started with victory in Mexico and at Misano he benefited from Oliver Rowland’s woes to win once more.
